Some units use vacuum circuit breakers for protection. The RMU connects to a ring electrical circuit. It enables the network to operate reliably. Faulty sections are isolated quickly. Healthy sections remain energized. The unit is compact and gas-insulated, often using SF6 or a dry gas.
